Gearbox’s Secret Game – Project 1v1

Project 1v1

That was unexpected…

I got an interesting email in my inbox today from Gearbox Software. Apparently they have a new game in development called “Project 1v1”. The description includes the following tidbit, “Project 1v1 combines the action of fast-paced 1v1 first person combat with the metagame strategy of a collectible card game”…consider me intrigued.

Although limited in initial information, the sign up page does explain the 3 play modes that will be available during the testing period.

  1. Ranked – Get matched with an opponent based on player rating. Win ranked matches to earn experience and crates containing new cards.
  2. Challenge – Challenge a friend to an unranked match.
  3. Arena – Queue up to challenge the current Arena champion – and win to take their place.

Signing up for the private test required agreeing to an NDA, so we’ll see what information I’ll be allowed to share. I’ve been a fan of just about every game Gearbox has put out, so I’m excited to see what they’ll bring to the table. I hope this is more of a side project for GS though, lord knows I am itching like crazy to get back into the Borderlands IP. Speaking of which, after I finish Minecraft, I really need to install Tales from the Borderlands to tide me over.

I’ll post more about Project 1v1 when (and if) I’m able.
